Winner in Fashion & Advertising category at 11th Pollux Awards 2018, UK

Bronze at One Eyeland Awards 2017

“Color Clash” clinches its 2nd photography award - Winner in Fashion & Advertising category in the “11th Pollux Awards”, United Kingdom. Pollux Awards is hosted by The Gala Awards to honour talented photographers and as a means of establishing and maintaining a continuing effort to help them further their careers, promoting appraisal towards contemporary photography. 

This series also won Bronze in the “One Eyeland Awards 2017”. Adjudged by a jury of 17 eminent artists, the photography competition received over 4000 images from 74 countries. This advertising campaign is photographed by Wai Teik for Japanese underwear brand GX3.

Honourable Mention at Prix De La Photographie 2012, Paris

 

Wai Teik participated in rebranding campaign aimed to elevate Hoperise as the go-to brand for China’s hipsters.

To differentiate the sub-brands, Hoperise Designer was shot entirely in a studio with hard lighting.

Planning, creative concept development, art direction and overseeing post production touch-up.

This series of well-composed yet seemingly incidental shots underscores the essence of Hoperise Casual.

Wai Teik shot the subject first, followed by the foregrounds to accommodate Hu Bing’s busy schedule. Both were then composited in post production.

A testament of Wai Teik’s technical finesse and resourcefulness.

Nocturnal Solitude

Honourable Mention at the Prix De La Photographie 2008, Paris

Colours and hues were used to evoke nostalgia, solitude and sentimentality.

This series frames a demolished landmark for posterity.

The Ethereal Movement

Honourable Mention at the Prix De La Photographie 2013, Paris

 

The spellbinding movements and moments were captured using existing lightings underneath the canvas stage. Otherworldly ambience was artfully created in post production colour and levels treatment.

Biotherm

1st Runner-up at XTO Image Awards 2010, USA

Honourable Mention at The International Photography Awards 2010, USA

Original creative concept inspired by light to elicit a sense of well being, rejuvenation and re-birth.

The series of images alludes to the magical rebirthing of one’s body and spirit with it comes into contact with Biotherm products.

A celebration of the human form with an eye for the sublime, made perfect with the right lighting and advanced digital imaging skill.

Nesting Instincts

Honourable Mention at The International Photography Awards 2010, USA

Inspired by the nesting instincts of birds.

For a touch of whimsical surrealism, model was perched on trees nymph-like - sometimes camouflaged, and sometimes flaunting her presence.

Highlights Wai Teik’s ability to grasp both the abstract and concrete.

Locomotion

Honourable Mention at the Prix De La Photographie 2009, Paris

Subject matter - trains and transitions - is an poetic allegory of a personal odyssey.

Deep focus was used to evoke a sense of transience and being lost in transition.

Statuesque

2 Honourable Mentions at The International Photography Awards 2008, USA

Inspired by and developed for magazine article about women in power.

The right ambience to complement the power poses of the model was achieved with hard half-lighting.

Post production digital imaging to merge two distinct images into one.

Groove

2 Honourable Mentions at The International Photography Awards 2008, USA

Close collaboration with BatesAsia Singapore and NCADA to bring a technically complex mixed-media campaign to life.

Meticulous planning prior to and during the shoot to ensure that the picture could be effortlessly adapted for mixed media.

Oversaw post production work to ensure: Ideal composition of 3 different shots into one. Original shot fitted the spray-on graffiti seamlessly.
